Quietly nestled on the waterfront of Mercer Island, this early 90’s Tudor home underwent a main floor renovation. With a concentrated effort to transform the Kitchen, we began our work by stripping the incompatible neoclassic detailing from previous remodels. With ample consideration, we worked the unbalanced floor plan by relocating major appliances to accommodate a logical work flow, visual balance and to better showcase the existing lead arched windows. We included historical details like stained beams, corbels, and three-point arches to pay homage to the Tudor aesthetic.
Creating a space that catered to everyday living was essential. So we designed a full-height pocketing appliance cabinet to conceal smaller appliances like the coffee maker and mixer. Features like the open shelf spice niche and utensil rail above the range are not only charming, but functional too.
A true labor of love, not an inch of this kitchen was not thoughtfully considered. The result, a performance-ready, heirloom quality, “Cinderella Kitchen.”
